Indeed, there is a “chicken and egg” relationship between depression and ten of the top ten causes of death in the United States, where sometimes depression comes before the physical disease or vice-versa. Clinical depression is mixed with: cancer, heart disease, asthma, chronic stress, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and other dementias, kidney disease, and yes even suicide.
